Those with an eye for mid-century design will appreciate this stylish horseshoe clock by Hermès. Paying homage to the luxury brand’s equestrian origins, the piece has a playful style with enduring vintage appeal and is instantly recognisable as an iconic piece of Hermès design.
The clock was crafted by Hermès in France in the late 50s, from an elegant blend of chromium-plated metal and brushed metal, shaped into a classic horseshoe design that is studded with eight nails. The clock developed a patina that adds to its vintage charm, has a distinguished light tan-coloured leather dial, with similarly beautiful aging. It is discreetly stamped with ‘Hermès Paris’ at six o’clock.
The silver numerals deserve a special mention – the curvature of the “2”, “6”and “9” markers add the extra sense of quality and thoughtful design, that make this timepiece exceptional. The crystal is subtly faceted around its edge, helping add depth to this wonderfully considered piece.
The clock rests on a simple hinged stand, meaning you can lie it flat should you wish, and is also stamped with ‘Hermès’ on the back. It also has an 8-day power reserve with keyless winding.
Perfectly capturing the design style typical of Paris during the post-war exuberance of the 20th Century, this exquisite clock is a very rare piece that makes a special addition to a home or used as a bedside clock.
If sold within the United Kingdom, this Hermès Horseshoe Clock will be subject to 20% VAT.
